There is some huge news regarding an upcoming Liverpool documentary.

In January, it was announced that a multi-episode documentary about the Merseyside giants was to be released after the 2023-24 season concluded, although a date for when the series would air had not been confirmed.

Of course, with the campaign being Jurgen Klopp's farewell, the series is set to capture the high and lows as the legendary German tactician prepared to bow out.

In an update that is sure to excite Liverpool supporters, it's understood that Amazon Prime are in pole position to pick up the UK rights for the documentary based on Klopp’s last six months at Anfield.

That is according to City A.M. who state that Amazon have entered advanced negotiations with the club and production company Lorton Entertainment to show the documentary, which was filmed over the second half of last season.

At the time of the announcement regarding a documentary, Liverpool were chasing success in four competitions (Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup).

Whilst they only managed to lift the Carabao Cup, it should still make for great viewing given Klopp's emotional departure and it will be fascinating to discover how much exclusive access is granted.

Klopp promise

Speaking around the time of the announcement, Klopp, who famously vetoed previous attempts to allow cameras for a fly-on-the-wall-style documentary, promised fans "an inside look at what makes this club so special".

"With this being my final season," he said on the club's website. "I thought we should provide a rare opportunity," for viewers to have, "more of an inside look at what makes this club so special".

"Thanks to this new documentary series, viewers will be able to see what I see every day at this great club, and understand those amazing people more."
