It's a day of farewells at Liverpool football club and some supporters are quite excited about the prospect of seeing Thiago Alcantara in action for one final time.

Sunday May 19, 2024 promises to be an emotional one for all connected to the Merseyside giants. With a top-three Premier League finish guaranteed, the home game against Wolves will serve as somewhat of a starter with the main course being Jurgen Klopp's send-off following a successful eight-and-a-half year spell.

But the German isn't alone with regard to departures. Along with almost his entire coaching staff, Joel Matip and Thiago will bid farewell to the Anfield faithful after it was announced the first-team pair are to leave upon the expiry of their contracts.

Whilst Matip has already played his final game in Liverpool colours, there's a chance Thiago will get the opportunity to do the same against Wolves and it's safe to say many fans are keen on this prospect.

It has been another injury hit season for the talented midfielder, so much so that his only appearance across all competitions to date came against Arsenal at the beginning of February where he played the final 10 minutes of a 3-1 defeat.

However, with Thiago taking part in a full training session ahead of the Wolves game, it has garnered chatter among Liverpool fans on Reddit over whether the Spaniard could make the matchday squad - or better yet make his second appearance of the campaign.

StonedCharmander said: "Seeing Thiago playing for Liverpool one last time would be a beautiful experience", an optimistic TareXmd suggested: "I highly suspect Thiago will be our starting number six tomorrow" to which prompted a response from Jaja6996: "He won’t he’s nowhere near fit enough to start a game 5-10 minutes is all he’s likely to get probably even less just so he can be applauded by the crowd since he’s leaving."

Meanwhile, Jingotheruler said: "The way Thiago strokes the ball around is different class. Going to miss him and wassam1 said: "I don't want Thiago to leave."

Unfortunately for one user, Thiago is leaving and he's already taken to social media to say his goodbyes to the club and its supporters, writing: "Appreciation and gratitude. They are two words that come to mind on the day I have to say goodbye to all of you, Reds.

"Thankful too. Thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of this city, this club and this community."
