Darwin Nunez equalled a 96-year-old Uruguay goalscoring record during his side’s Copa America trashing of Bolivia on Thursday night.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team won 5-0 at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey with goals coming through Facundo Pellistri, Nunez, Maximiliano Araujo, Federico Valverde and Rodrigo Bentancur.
La Celeste sit top of their group, with six points from two matches, and are virtually assured of their place in the knockouts due to a very healthy-looking goal difference.

Van Dijk responds
Liverpool and Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk has given a proper response to criticism put to him after his performances at Euro 2024.
Virgil van Dijk has been at the centre of a storm in the Netherlands this week after the nation's terrible performances against Austria. The Dutch lost 3-2 at Euro 2024, going behind three times to the underdogs.
And Van Dijk, as captain and star defender, faced the brunt of the criticism. The highest-profile stick came from Marco van Basten, who questioned the defender's leadership qualities.

Real Madrid are set to rival Liverpool for yet another player in Riccardo Calafiori. It’s been a recurring theme over the last few years.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Real Madrid are in the mix for Riccardo Calafiori. Bologna's Italian centre-back is generating a lot of hype at the moment, with a move away from the club expected after a stellar season.
And now it's suggested that Real Madrid could make him the latest in a long line of future-proof signings. The outlet mentions two made in recent years: Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga.

Firmino surprises with shirt choice
Liverpool favourite Roberto Firmino surprised many with a seemingly random choice of football shirt in an Instagram post this week.
Roberto Firmino made a pretty generic post on Instagram this week - just a shot of him post-workout in a gym. It managed to gain some traction online, however, given his choice of shirt.
As points out by APLFC_ on X, Firmino was wearing a 2023/24 Burnley away shirt. It's a club he's never played for, never been linked to, nor is there any obvious connection there.

Reds eye Beto
Liverpool have been named as frontrunners for the signing of Brazil goalkeeper Bento after Inter Milan opted against paying Athletico Paranaense’s €15 million asking price.
Inter have instead invested those funds into the signing of Genoa’s Spanish goalkeeper Josep Martinez, with the aim of making him their long-term No.1.
That decision leaves Bento on the market with Liverpool, Sporting CP and Benfica named among the sides leading the chase for his signature according to Globo.
