Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is among FIVE players set to be released by Newcastle once their contracts expire on June 30, it has been confirmed, and his partner, DAZN presenter Diletta Leotta, could finally get her wish.

The 30-year-old has only managed TWO appearances in two seasons at St. James’ Park, deputising on one occasion in the Premier League when Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka were unavailable.

His chance came at the Emirates against Arsenal back in Feburary, a game which ultimately ended up being a 4-1 loss.

Along with Matt Richie, Paul Dummett, Jeff Hendrick and Kell Watts, the back-up goalie will now be looking for a new club this summer.

Diletta Leotta calls Newcastle 'inconvenient'

That could well be in Italy, following his fiancee’s declaration earlier this year that Newcastle was ‘inconvenient’.

DAZN presenter and model Diletta Leotta hit the headlines when she urged Karius to quit the Magpies in order to be closer to her base in Milan, citing a lack of direct transportation options.

“[He should join] Monza or any other team in Italy,” the DAZN host told Tuttosport. “I would be happy if he came to Italy to play near his family. Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights.”

Karius and Diletta have been together since October 2022, becoming parents to a little girl, Aria, in August 2023 and the pair are set to get married in Sicily in June.

Karius signed for the Reds from Mainz back in 2016 for a fee of £4.75 million.

He endured a torrid time during a five-year spell at Liverpool, making two mistakes against Real Madrid in the Champions League final in 2018 which were later attributed to concussion

"We don't use it as an excuse, we use it as an explanation,” manager Jurgen Klopp said about the defeat. “For me, it's 100 percent the explanation. He was influenced by that knock – that is 100 percent.”

He appeared in 49 matches overall for the Anfield side amid loan spells as Besiktas and Union Berlin.
