After a resounding 3-0 friendly win over rivals Manchester United, the mood is good in the Liverpool camp.

But with the season fast approaching, can they finally get some transfer business done?

Here's the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip from Monday 5 August.

Southampton bid for Carvalho rejected

Liverpool have rejected an offer from Southampton for Fabio Carvalho, although the club are open to other offers for the talented playmaker.

The South Coast outfit were initially interested in signing the 21-year-old in the January transfer window prior to joining Hull City on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. Now, after winning promotion back to the Premier League, the Saints are back again — and want to sign the midfielder permanently.

However, an offer worth up to £15m has been rejected by Liverpool.

Joe Gomez 'committed' to Liverpool

Despite being Liverpool's longest-serving player, what the future holds for versatile defender Joe Gomez remains up in the air.

Rumours of a potential departure have been circulating, particularly with Newcastle’s keen interest in a deal last month that would have seen Anthony Gordon go the other way.

However, despite a mooted £45 million offer from the Magpies, discussions never progressed to the point of Gomez speaking to the Tyneside club.

Now, Paul Joyce from The Times reports that the 27-year-old, who returned to the AXA Training Centre yesterday, "remains committed to Liverpool" and aims to emerge as a key player under Slot.

Five EPL clubs interested in Gomez

Despite this, there is considerable interest in the Londoner this summer, including from five Premier League teams.

In addition to Newcastle, a report from HITC has highlighted the interest from other clubs, including Aston Villa, who can offer Champions League football, and a trio of London clubs: West Ham United, Brentford and Crystal Palace.

Sell-on clause putting Spurs off Solanke

Liverpool aren't thought to be in the market to re-sign former striker Dominic Solanke — but that doesn't mean they won't have a say on where he ends up this summer, if he's to leave Bournemouth.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the 26-year-old this summer, but, according to a report from the Mirror, Bournemouth are holding out for £65 million to secure Solanke's services.

This is in no small part down to a sell-on clause in his contract that entitles Liverpool to a 20 per cent share of any profit from Solanke's transfer.

Pedro Neto sends message to Liverpool

Liverpool have been linked with an unlikely move for Pedro Neto in recent weeks, but the Wolves winger had a clear message for fans when asked about his future.

According to journalist Nathan Judah, when asked about his future at a fan event, he said: “I love this club; I’m really happy to be here and take this team to another level.”

Neto has three years left on his current deal.
