Liverpool transfers: Should Reds entertain sale of £25m Fabio Carvalho?
Despite a good pre-season Fábio Carvalho still faces an uncertain future at Liverpool.
The 21-year-old has impressed so far this pre-season under Arne Slot, but fresh transfer interest could yet tempt the Reds to sell.
The Athletic reported on Sunday that Liverpool have rejected a £15 million bid from Southampton for Carvalho who is under contract at Liverpool until June 2027.
Now Caught Offside are reporting that Liverpool have set a €30m (£25.8 million) asking price for the young Portuguese star.

Carvalho’s surprising pre-season
After impressing on loan at Hull in the second half of last season, Carvalho has continued that good form on the Reds’ US tour, scoring against both Arsenal and Manchester United.
These performances have attracted interest from a number of clubs including Southampton, who were also interested in taking the youngster on loan in January.
This summer it seems that Liverpool are only interested in listening to permanent offers for the former Fulham man and the only such bid to materialise so far has come from the Saints.
Despite his good showing on the US tour, Carvalho still has a lot to prove to new head coach Arne Slot and with little known about Slot’s preferred team when he has the full squad available it is unclear if Carvalho will get the chance.
How would Carvalho fit into Slot’s plans?
The player himself revealed that Slot had asked him to try and “settle on the wing” but that he feels he plays his best football in the number 10 position.
With it still not entirely clear what formation Slot will utilise at Liverpool its possible that Carvalho may not get to play in his preferred position this season and that could lead to him wanting an Anfield departure.
Although Carvalho seems to have found his feet somewhat in this current Liverpool side, the returns of Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo will no doubt lead to his minutes being reduced.
Liverpool need to strengthen in other positions and their depth in attacking midfield is already great so a departure that could provide vital funds for new signings could be the best option for Liverpool.
Carvalho signed for the Reds for only €5.9 million in 2022 and has made just 21 appearances for Liverpool, whilst going out on loan twice last season.
So far this summer Liverpool are yet to sign anyone, and the sale of Carvalho for profit could be the spark needed to kickstart Liverpool’s transfer window.
