England Under-18s ace Trey Nyoni pushing for a place in Arne Slot's plans

Liverpool talent Trey Nyoni is returning to the club this week on the back of a brilliant international break for the teenager.

The Leicester-born midfielder lit up the pitch with some special performances for England's Under-18s, and picked up an award after finishing the Lafarge Foot Avenir tournament as its top scorer.

Nyoni notched in two of his country's three games - against competition winners Portugal and runners-up France - and was rested for the other fixture, versus Switzerland.

The 17-year-old's goals were integral to England's efforts in securing three draws and although the Young Lions could only finish third in the tournament, his sparkling displays were further evidence of his immeasurable talent.

Nyoni has now scored in each of his last three starts for club and country this season, having also netted against Leicester City Under-21s. In pre-season, he became a fans' favourite talent to watch and found favour with new boss Arne Slot after excelling in some first-team friendlies.

Nyomi is making a name for himself

Running across the pitch with freedom throughout all four of Liverpool's pre-season games, Nyoni became a name to look out for, and after scoring against Sevilla at Anfield last month, he was widely tipped to become the club's next young star.

While still at the precipice of his senior career, Nyoni has the world at his feet, and given the club's reputation and Arne Slot's recognised ability for working very closely with young players, it's hard to think he won't be brought into the first team in the near future.

With the prospect of working alongside Harvey Elliott, Jarrell Quansah, Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley, all of whom have excelled once brought into the first team from the youth system, Nyoni arguably couldn't be in a better place for his development.

Last season, he made his first senior appearance off the bench in an FA Cup game against Southampton, where the club won 3-0 to progress into the quarter-finals.

As the Reds endeavour to go far in all four competitions this season, the club's squad depth is likely to be pushed to the limit, and if Arne Slot is to follow in former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's footsteps by winning trophies, then the starlet may be utilised more often than anticipated.
