Liverpool FC News: Harry Redknapp SLAMS Virgil van Dijk for criticising Manchester United teammate
Harry Redknapp highlighted Virgil van Dijk's critique of one of his national teammates while naming his Premier League team of the week.
Matthijs De Ligt had a challenging international break, culminating in a costly error that led to Germany scoring against the Netherlands.
De Ligt's slip-up permitted Denis Undav to net a goal, and he was also implicated in Joshua Kimmich's goal. Consequently, coach Ronald Koeman substituted the United defender at half time for Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke.
The Liverpool captain acknowledged that De Ligt needed to improve. "This is football," Van Dijk remarked after the match. "You have to learn from this. It was one moment, but at the highest level, you will get punished for it."

Although Van Dijk's comments seemed relatively mild, Redknapp addressed speculation that Van Dijk might have been harsh.
Speaking to Bet Victor, Redknapp said: "Matthijs de Ligt bounced back from a tough international week, some say that Virgil van Dijk threw him under the bus! Well, this Dutchman certainly silenced the critics with a superb goal and clean sheet! Man United needed a result. They were on a real low after being well beaten by Liverpool and their new signing stepped up to the mark."
