Here’s our Liverpool news recap for Sunday 21st July with updates on Adrien Rabiot, Mohammed Kudus, Virgil van Dijk and Tyler Morton.

Kudus transfer theory

Mohammed Kudus' decision to change agents has prompted a rather ambitious transfer theory amongst some Liverpool supporters on social media.

As revealed by journalist Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter), the West Ham United star "will be now represented by relatives and legal team after decision to part ways with his former agents".

Whilst this change doesn't necessarily suggest Kudus will be on the move this summer, there is a portion of Liverpool fans who are hoping this is exactly the case with one in particular getting quite excited about the Ghana international being the first signing under new head coach Arne Slot.

Of course, Kudus has been linked with a move to Anfield as he's reportedly regarded as the perfect long-term successor to Mohamed Salah. Although the Reds may have to wait until next summer to secure his signature as that's when his £85million release clause becomes active again.

Gordon advised against Liverpool transfer

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes Anthony Gordon would be better off staying at Newcastle United as apposed to joining Liverpool this summer.

Linked with a return to Merseyside - 18 months after leaving Everton - only for talks between the Reds and the Magpies to break down due to a combination of the latter's asking price and insistence on inserting Jarell Quansah into a swap deal.

Although, it has been speculated that Liverpool could test Newcastle's resolve with a bid for the England international before the summer transfer window closes.

A scenario which Saha is keen to avoid as he's explained why this summer wouldn't be ideal for Gordon to be on the move once again.

Liverpool statement on alleged racist abuse

Liverpool have issued a statement after their under-18s walked off the pitch twice across two matches over alleged racial abuse in Germany.

During their opening match of the Bundesliga Cup youth tournament against Hoffenheim on Friday, a player said he was the target of racial abuse and this resulted in the team walking off the pitch.

Then on Saturday the team left the field in protest after the same player said he was abused during a game against Frankfurt and this resulted in the match being abandoned.

Issuing a statement with regard to the two incidents, as per the BBC, Liverpool said:

"Liverpool FC can confirm that a member of our under-18s team reported he was racially abused by an opponent while playing in the Bundesliga Cup youth tournament at Schwabisch Hall in Germany on Friday."

Van Dijk open to Saudi transfer

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has reportedly given the green light to The Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia over a potential summer transfer.

According to TEAMtalk, the Dutchman, who is out of contract next summer, hasn't ruled out the possibility of becoming the latest high-profile name to leave Europe and join a Saudi Pro League club.

In fact, the report states that van Dijk has given the green light to the Saudi negotiator to start talking with Liverpool after his entourage, met with the PIF to better understand the proposal ready for the central defender.

However, any deal is apparently in jeopardy due to the Reds valuing the 33-year-old at €55 million (£46.3m) and it's claimed the figure is currently considered too high by the Saudi negotiator.

Rabiot claim rejected

Adrien Rabiot is currently without a club after leaving Juventus upon the expiry of his contract last month, but despite speculation he will not be joining Liverpool on a free transfer.

Interest in the Frenchman appears to be high and there have been claims that the 29-year-old was going to reject an offer from Anfield in order to sign for Manchester United.

However, The Daily Mail's Lewis Steele has revealed there is absolutely nothing in claims such claims, doubling down on what fellow journalist Fabrizio Romano has previously said about the transfer rumour.

"Liverpool not interested in signing free agent Adrien Rabiot," Steele wrote on X. "Quite a lot of reports saying he is set to choose Manchester United over them. Liverpool were never in for the 29-year-old."

Liverpool to accept 'significant' offer for Morton

Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton is attracting interest from many clubs and a decision has been made with regard to his future.

Following an impressive loan spell with Hull City last season, the 21-year-old is seen as a great prospect for the future - whether that's at Anfield or elsewhere amid links to Sevilla, RB Leipzig and Frankfurt.

Well, according to reports, the Reds are fully prepared to accept a 'significant' offer for Morton - potentially in the region of £20million - during the summer transfer window.

However, if Liverpool's valuation is not met, they are more than happy to keep the midfielder. Although, he could find first-team football hard to come by next season were he to stay given the options at new head coach Arne Slot's disposal.
