Trent Alexander-Arnold excelled once again for England on Tuesday night and picked up his second Player of the Match award in two games.

England took on Finland at Wembley on Tuesday night and Alexander-Arnold once again impressed, assisting the first of Harry Kane’s two goals on the captain’s 100th appearance for the Three Lions.

Despite Kane’s brace, it was Trent who took home the Player of the Match award, which he has now won in back-to-back matches.

After a mixed Euros campaign with England in the summer, during which Trent was played as a midfielder, the 25-year-old looks to finally be establishing himself as a must-start for England.

Trent’s impressive England display

As well as providing the assist for Kane’s opener, Trent created the most chances of the match with five and Liverpool’s vice-captain also kept his fifth clean sheet of the season for club and country.

Despite only featuring sporadically over the last few years, and rarely in his natural position, Alexander-Arnold is clearly a big part of interim England boss Lee Carsley’s plans for the Three Lions.

Speaking to ITV Sport after the match, Premier League icon Roy Keane said: "Brilliant. Easy night for [Trent] when you give top players time and space and the ball and obviously their decision making, his pace of pass, the type of pass he was making, giving his team mates a lovely pace of the pass ... The pass from Trent, absolutely brilliant and effective."

Trent’s contract situation

Although every Liverpool supporter will be enjoying Trent’s great form at the start of this season, there is a big issue constantly hanging over any discussion about the star.

Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at Anfield at the end of this season and there are some European giants reportedly interested in Liverpool’s academy product.

If no deal is agreed between the player and the club then Trent will be able to leave Liverpool for free at the end of the season, an outcome that no Liverpool supporter wants.

Trent isn’t the only Liverpool player with less than a year left on their contract this season either, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are both in the same position.

Although talks are reportedly set to begin soon there has been a lot of public speculation surrounding the trio’s contract situation and it’s currently unclear whether any or all of the stars will extend their stay in Merseyside.

Despite the off-pitch uncertainty that currently surrounds Trent, his performances on the field for both Liverpool and England this year have been impressive and supporters will be hoping that this form continues into the Reds' next game against Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.
