Premier League icon makes Mohamed Salah PREDICTION amid Liverpool contract talks

Premier League Hall of Famer Ian Wright has given his verdict on Mohamed Salah’s contract situation at Liverpool.

Despite being one of the Premier League’s greatest players, Mohamed Salah is now in a position where he could leave English football for free at the end of this season if he wishes as his Liverpool contract expires in less than a year.

Following Liverpool’s recent 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford the Egyptian King shocked some supporters by plainly stating that this may well be his final season at the club.

Reports have since followed that claim negotiations are set to start in the coming weeks in order to resolve Salah’s contract issue but his future at Anfield has never been more uncertain.

Now Premier League icon Ian Wright has weighed in with his opinion on Salah’s future.

What did Wright say?

Speaking on his Premier League show Kelly & Wrighty, the 60-year-old said: “I do get the impression that he will probably like to stay at Liverpool and break records. He has got that legacy to play for.

“Let’s say he stays for three years. Even if he dropped off in the last year, that’s 10 years of unbelievable Liverpool service. I believe that he will probably stay if Liverpool go about it.”

Salah has already enjoyed a record-breaking career at Anfield and currently sits fifth in Liverpool’s all-time top goal scorers list. Whilst Salah is 132 goals off Ian Rush’s record, he is only 71 goals behind Rodger Hunt who currently occupies second place and this could be a very achievable tally for the Egyptian if he were to stay at Liverpool for multiple seasons.

Salah’s red-hot form

Salah’s contract situation is only exasperated by the forward's scintillating form since the start of this season.

Liverpool have won all three of their opening Premier League games and in that time Salah has scored three goals and provided a further three assists, resulting in him being nominated for the Player of the Month award.

Whilst Salah’s great performances provide plenty of delight to Liverpool supporters, they also act as a stark reminder of what an incredible player could be leaving Anfield at the end of the season.

Liverpool did sign Federico Chiesa this summer, who can play in Salah’s position, and Luis Diaz is also in fine form but Liverpool supporters will want a new deal for Salah wrapped up as quickly as possible to ensure their talisman stays in Merseyside for the foreseeable future.
