Salah 3 - ESPN's ridiculous Liverpool ratings after Forest defeat

Liverpool were handed their first loss of the Premier League season when Nottingham Forest won 1-0 at Anfield on Saturday.

Despite an overall disappointing performance, there were some stand out players for Liverpool but Arne Slot’s perfect record came to an end.

Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Diaz both looked impressive at times but it was not enough for Liverpool to prevail and, in the end, a 72nd minute strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi was enough to sink the Reds.

Slot tried to rescue the game with some bold tactical changes but Liverpool couldn’t overcome Nottingham Forest.

ESPN’s shocking Salah rating

Although he didn't reach his usual high standards, Mo Salah was not deserving of the extremely low rating awarded to him by Don Hutchison on ESPN.

Hutchinson gave Salah a three and said that the Egyptian King, alongside Dominik Szoboszlai, “kept giving the ball away” which “disrupted the whole flow” of the game.

For reference, Anfield Watch awarded salah a five.

The winger had been in electric form for Liverpool up until Saturday, scoring three goals and providing a further three assists in the Reds opening three games.

Salah was unable to get into the game properly and didn’t look like the potent threat he usually is in front of goal.

The other Liverpool ratings

Hutchinson gave Alisson Becker a six, the highest rating he awarded to any Liverpool player.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk both received a five, whilst Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson were awarded fours.

Moving into the midfield, Alexis Mac Allister was given a four, Ryan Gravenberch a five and Dominik Szoboszlai a three.

Fives for Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota rounded out the player ratings.

Although Liverpool's defeat was disappointing there isn’t too much cause for concern just yet, and the Reds will have a chance to redeem themselves when they start their UEFA Champions League campaign against AC Milan on Tuesday 17 September.
