Liverpool linked with 80-goal Borussia Dortmund forward

Liverpool are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland, according to Mundo Deportivo, as cited by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account.

The Reds could reportedly make a move for the Norway international due to the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah's Liverpool future.

Haaland's contract expires in the summer of 2024. Apparently the 21-year-old possesses a release clause of €75 million (active this summer).

Anfield Watch Verdict

Haaland is one of the best young talents in the game. The striker has found the back of the net 80 times and secured 21 assists in 82 appearances for Borussia Dortmund's first-team.

Former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry has also explained in the past why Haaland is so special.

"He doesn't care about anything other than the goal," the Frenchman told Sky Sports back in March 2021, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

"Other players will go on the wing - he wants to stay within the frame of the net. Between the two posts, he knows he is lethal.

"He's so powerful, by the way. He just wants to run in behind and the way he finishes is ridiculous. The ability that he has: he believes so much in himself, and I like that.

"There's a bit of cockiness about him, if I can use that word. You've got to look at people and say, 'I'm going to score'.

"He doesn't want to go anywhere else other than to score goals - that's his mind. It's middle, middle or wide, wide, middle."

With that being the case, we would love to see Liverpool make a move for Haaland. But, we wouldn't want him to be Salah's replacement.

As we have explained earlier today, the Egyptian international is a world-class footballer and still reasonably young. Therefore, hopefully Salah remains at Liverpool.

But, only time will tell if Liverpool and Haaland are to cross paths.
