Szoboszlai's bizarre nickname

It may have been unintentional, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is behind Dominik Szoboszlai’s nickname at Liverpool.

Last season, following November's Premier League clash between the Reds and Manchester City, Guardiola spoke about the 23-year-old midfielder during a press conference.

Szoboszlai, who was signed from RB Leipzig for £60 million the previous summer, was already making a big impact with a series of standout performances.

While praising the Reds' key players, including Mohamed Salah, and new signings Ryan Gravenberch and Szoboszlai, Guardiola accidentally mispronounced the Hungarian’s name which went viral.

Klopp's iconic bar rebranded

Following Jurgen Klopp’s emotional farewell last season, the owners of Jurgen’s Bierhaus on The Strand in Liverpool city centre have opted for a rebrand.

After the bar opened in 2019, fans came from far and wide to follow the Reds' fortunes and celebrate successes such as the club's first league title win in 30 years.

But after a complete renovation, with Anfield memorabilia removed and Jurgen Klopp's name taken down, the venue is now unrecognisable.

After renaming their establishment The Three Graces, in honour of the city's famous waterfront buildings, the owners' focus is now on putting local musicians and entertainers in the spotlight, as well as screening live TV matches for both the Reds and Everton.

Scholes concerned by Slot's relationship with Trent

© IMAGO - Trent Alexander-Arnold Arne Slot

Liverpool currently have a perfect record in the Premier League under Arne Slot, winning all of their opening three games, scoring seven and conceding none in the process.

Despite this perfect start to on-the-pitch life at Liverpool under Slot, there are still some concerns around Liverpool’s off-pitch activity since the Dutchman took over.

Only one player, Federico Chiesa, was added to Liverpool's playing squad this summer, although a deal has been agreed for the transfer of Giorgi Mamardashvili in 2025, and three of Liverpool’s key players are out of contract at the end of this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are all on deals that expire in less than a year and so far, at least publicly, it seems very little progress has been made towards the trio penning contract extensions.

Now, more fuel has been added to the fire as Manchester United and England icon Paul Scholes has shared his opinion on Trent’s relationship with new boss Slot.

Barclaysmen: 13 Liverpool players who defined that era

© IMAGO - Maxi Rodriguez

Social media has been alive over the past week with a resurgence of the ‘Barclaysmen’ - a vaguely defined term that we somehow all understand, soundtracked with the most essential British indie landfill music.

It refers to a time now lost: the mid-late 2000s, when Barclays was a crucial aspect of Premier League branding and Pep Guardiola’s rigid system of passing and pressing was yet to be truly implemented.

It was a time of individual skill, unattainable flair, and players willing to try their luck from 35 yards.

The ‘Barclaysmen’ were not players who truly dominated the league in that time. No, the 'Barclaysmen' were the players who, above all else, entertained the masses and may just have been lost to cult status by now.

Slot-ball fixed Klopp issue

Liverpool have enjoyed a perfect start to the Premier League under new boss Arne Slot, winning all three of their opening games and scoring seven goals in the process.

Arguably the most impressive stat is that the Reds haven't conceded a goal; in fact, they are the only top-flight team to have kept clean sheets in every fixture so far.

Whilst ‘Slot-ball’ has been praised for its exciting and technical qualities, it has also solidified Liverpool defensively.

Only three matchdays of the Premier League have taken place so it is a little early to call but so far it seems like the Reds are more secure at the back under their new coach.

Carragher issues Trent warning

Arne Slot's tenure at Liverpool has started impressively, but a concerning subplot looms over Anfield this season.

Three of Liverpool's key players—Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah—are all out of contract at the end of the current campaign. Each of them has started the season in excellent form and remains vital to the team’s success. If they choose to stay, they will continue to be crucial for years to come.

Liverpool seem to be optimistic about securing Alexander-Arnolds long-term future, with the player reportedly assessing the situation under Slot’s management. However, until a formal announcement is made, there remains some anxiety among fans.

Speaking on the 'Stick to Football' podcast, Jamie Carragher shared his thoughts on Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation, explaining why it differs from Van Dijk’s and Salah’s.

Dua Lipa is coming to Anfield

For a number of years now, trophy success at Liverpool has been linked with one song - and no, we don't mean 'You’ll Never Walk Alone.'

'One Kiss' by Dua Lipa has been adopted as the Reds' unofficial trophy anthem, played after successful cup finals since Liverpool won the Champions League in Madrid in 2019.

Now, it has been announced that Dua Lipa will play a live show at Anfield on 24th June 2025.

Liverpool most recently won the Carabao Cup in February of this year and 'One Kiss' was played after the full-time whistle.

But how did winning silverware become synonymous with the English-Albanian singer's 2018 pop hit?
