Man City set Pep Guardiola DEADLINE as he prepares to follow Jurgen Klopp exit

Pep Guardiola is leaning towards an exit date from Manchester City, hot on the heels of Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool.

ESPN reports that Manchester City are set to ask Pep Guardiola for a decision on his future before Christmas. This comes as their manager enters the final year of his contract.

And Guardiola could well leave City. He hasn't made a decision yet, but the club are eager to tie him down to another long-term deal.

The Spaniard, however, isn't so sure - and is leaning towards an exit in 2025. That would come after the inaugural edition of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup that summer.

This, of course, comes hot on the heels of Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool. The pair were the longest-serving managers in the Premier League last season and by far the two most successful.

Guardiola gave an incredibly emotional goodbye to his Anfield counterpart once the season was done. It's a rivalry that has defined the Premier League over the last seven years.

Pep Guardiola could leave Manchester City

There are a few notes on this, of course. The most obvious is that Guardiola almost certainly wants to see the outcome of City's hearing later this year before deciding anything.

After all, there's a chance the club will be relegated from the Premier League if found guilty of their 115 charges of financial misconduct. Who'd want to stick around for that?

Then there's the Liverpool side of things. It is pretty gutting that Guardiola could end his era at City just one year after Klopp leaves Anfield.

Without Guardiola at the helm, they almost certainly couldn't have matched what Klopp brought out of Liverpool over his tenure. The trophy count would be far, far higher if not for his team (and other certain City things).

Hopefully, then, Arne Slot can take advantage of his impending exit. The landscape of the Premier League is about to change dramatically.
