Manchester City's Kyle Walker has made an enormous claim about Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the Reds currently locked in a title battle with the reigning champions.

Liverpool and Man City have established themselves as fierce rivals on the pitch over recent seasons, with the two clubs having been the outstanding teams in English football under Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.

However, that rivalry has rarely left the field of play, with both sets of players generally sharing a great mutual respect for one another given some of the incredible tussles over the years.

That's perhaps reflected in Man City right-back Walker's latest comments, with the defender making a huge claim about Alexander-Arnold recently.

KYLE WALKER  SPEAKS ABOUT TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

Speaking as a guest on Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel, Walker was full of praise for Alexander-Arnold, admitting that he has never seen anyone pass a ball like the 25-year-old.

"Trent is a quarterback at right-back. I’ve never seen anyone pass the ball like it," said Walker. "Left, right foot, snow on it when it needs to have snow on it, or ping straight to the chest.

"The way Liverpool play where it’s very transitional, German manager, it’s a process to get up to the goal [for us], but Liverpool are very direct with their football.

"I’m not saying it’s a long ball team. But when you’ve got Salah on the right-hand side and you’re whipping that ball down his right-hand side, that’s what Trent’s very, very good at.

"I think people come at him for defending. But people can come at me for my crossing. Let’s just say that. I don’t think anyone’s going to really have the finished article. I think he’s improved massively on his defending, I think it comes with age as well."

In terms of Alexander-Arnold's passing, Walker's claim in pretty significant given he plays in a side with Kevin De Bruyne, one of the best passers of a football the Premier League has ever seen.

It's also interesting to see Walker, who has been a constant in a relentless Man City team, identify Alexander-Arnold's defensive improvements, with Liverpool's right-back often harshly criticised for his performances in his own half.

Alexander-Arnold will be crucial to Liverpool during the title battle with Man City and Arsenal, with the defender himself hopeful of returning from injury against Sheffield United on 4 April.
