Jarell Quansah tipped to have big future as Liverpool reject proposal

Jarell Quansah has been at the centre of transfer speculation in recent days, but the defender has been tipped to have a big future at Liverpool.

The 21-year-old broke into the first-team last season, making 33 appearances across all competitions - including the Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea - and was selected by Gareth Southgate in England's preliminary squad for this summer's European Championships.

Ultimately, unlike Liverpool teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez, Quansah wasn't included in the final squad that headed out to Germany. Although it's safe to assume there are many international tournaments in his future provided his development does not stall.

With Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp at the helm, it may have been somewhat of an uncertain time for Quansah as a new manager always comes with his own ideas and there could have been a situation where the youngster didn't fit into the Dutchman's plans.

However, the club have revealed their stance on the central defender. As per the Daily Mail, Liverpool rejected the chance to sign Anthony Gordon, primarily because Newcastle United pushed for Quansah to be included in a swap deal.

In addition, the report states the Reds simply are not willing to sell the 21-year-old as they view him as a player with fantastic potential.

Quansah has a "big future"

This stance is likely to delight many Liverpool supporters as well as pundit Tony Cascarino who believes Quansah has all the ingredients to be a leading central defender for the Merseyside giants in the future.

"I saw that line yesterday with Quansah maybe a possibility of him moving on," Cascarino said on talkSPORT.

"I think he has still got a chance at Liverpool to be a proper centre-half. He has got a big future and I think Liverpool understand that as well."

With Liverpool linked with a host of central defenders, including Leny Yoro and Riccardo Calafiori, it remains to be seen how much first-team football Quansah receives next season but all signs point towards him being a key player for club and country in the future.
