Glen Johnson has claimed that Harry Kane would be a "great fit" for Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side.

The former Liverpool right-back said that he'd love to see Kane at Anfield. But, he further added that he'd be "very surprised" if it happens.

“Personally, I’d love to see him at Liverpool. I think he’d be a great fit for them. We know how Liverpool do their business and I don’t think they’d break the bank for someone of Harry’s age," Johnson told bettingodds.com.

"I know he’s not old but Liverpool don’t do that sort of thing (sign ageing players). I’d be very surprised if the deal came off, but I’d like to see it happen.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

According to The Anfield Wrap, as cited by Anfield Watch, Liverpool have held talks with the 28-year-old over a potential transfer this summer.

The England captain was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, but Daniel Levy, Tottenham's Chairman, blocked the move.

This forced Pep Guardiola's side to sign the highly-rated Erling Haaland this summer, putting a stop to Kane joining the Premier League champions.

With City signing the Norwegian superstar, this could open the door for Liverpool to swoop in and sign the Spurs forward.

However, Kane's contract expires in the summer of 2024 and it would most likely take upwards of £100 million to convince Levy to sell their star player this summer.

Even though he is 28 years of age, Kane still has plenty of football ahead of him at the top level and if he was under the guidance of Klopp, then he could easily cement himself as the best striker in Premier League history.

During his Spurs career, Kane has scored 247 goals and secured 59 assists in 385 appearances.

He is also in the top five Premier League goalscorers of all time. Only Sergio Aguero, Andy Cole, Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer are ahead of him.
