Liverpool have reportedly held talks with Tottenham forward Harry Kane

Liverpool could make a move for Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane this summer.

According to The Anfield Wrap, as cited by FourFourTwo, the Reds have held talks with the 28-year-old over a potential transfer.

Liverpool see Kane as someone who could replace Sadio Mane. The Senegal international is reportedly set to join Bayern Munich in the coming months.

Kane's contract expires in the summer of 2024. He possesses a current market value of £90 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Kane is an elite player. The forward has found the back of the net 248 times and registered 59 assists in 386 appearances for Tottenham's first-team.

Kane averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.50 across the 2021-22 campaign (50 appearances).

Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness also had plenty of good things to say about Kane's ability.

"I think his football at the moment is the best I've seen from him," he told Sky Sports back in April, as quoted by The Daily Mail.

"Okay, he won't be entirely happy because he's not getting the goals. But his game is just superb.

"He's just an all-round super footballer at this time. He won't be happy as I said, because he's a striker and strikers are a strange animal."

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool signing Kane. However, we do believe that it is highly unlikely.

Kane's contract situation means that Tottenham are very much in control of his future. Besides, the Reds have never spent more than £76.19 million on a player (Virgil van Dijk).

But, there is no denying that Liverpool will have to replace Mane (that's if he leaves). If that means spending a fair bit of money, then so be it.

The Reds can't be standing still. The reality is, they are not the best team in the world going by last season.
