'Hardly created': Arne Slot gives SCATHING reaction to his first Liverpool defeat

Arne Slot has reacted strongly to his Liverpool team losing at Anfield against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Liverpool sunk to a poor defeat on Saturday as Nottingham Forest rocked up to Anfield and left with three points. It was the Reds' first defeat under Arne Slot - and their first goal conceded.

In truth, the home side did very little across 90 minutes. They couldn't create much of anything, constantly failing with their final ball once they got close to the Forest goal.

That's something that particularly infuriated Slot, who gave a scathing reaction to his team's defeat.

"The result frustrates the most and we cannot be hapy about how the game went," he said, per the BBC. "It was a stop-start game and we hardly created any chances.

"We only have to look at ourselves, we have to be better. Far too many times we lost the ball around the area, it was not good enough. We have to be better with the ball.

"Our decisions and execution wasn't good enough. In general, we defended quite well but the two fast players came on and made it difficult. We took a lot of risk and in the end it was a very good goal."

Liverpool fall to Forest

This just wasn't good enough, and Liverpool need to bounce back quickly. Their Champions League fixture against AC Milan on Tuesday now carries extra weight, with the Reds needing to get back on the positive path they were pre-international break.

That break really came at the worst time for Liverpool, in hindsight. They were riding an incredible wave of momentum but watched it wash away over the last two weeks.

Tiredness clearly played a part out there, but that's no excuse. As Slot points out, this was about sloppy play in the final third - not struggling to handle the intensity.

Slot did talk about wanting his places to realise things weren't perfect. This was the reality check Liverpool apparently needed.
