Former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has warned Luis Diaz about leaving Anfield this summer amid reports linking the winger with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
Diaz made the move to Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 and quickly endeared himself to supporters with his bold and energetic play style.
The Colombian is beginning to find his best form again in recent months after a difficult period post injury, with clubs around Europe interested in signing him this summer according to recent reports.
PSG have been strongly linked with a potential £75m move for the 27-year-old in recent days, while Diaz's father has previously spoken about his son's desire to play for Barca one day.
However, former Red Mascherano, who also played for Barcelona for many years, has suggested that Diaz is a perfect fit for Liverpool and should think twice before considering an exit.
LUIS DIAZ GIVEN CAREER ADVICE BY JAVIER MASCHERANO
Speaking to Antena 2, Liverpool's former No. 20 said regarding Diaz: "He is a great player, very decisive especially when it comes to playing in one-on-one duels. The truth is that I think he has arrived at a team that fits him just right.
"If there is something that Liverpool have is that they love players like Diaz who leave everything on the field and have that strength and leave everything on the field. That’s why I think he fits right where he has arrived."
Diaz, of course, had a tremendously challenging start to the season following the kidnapping of his parents in Colombia, with his form naturally taking a hit during a traumatic period.
However, since the turn of the year, the forward has been closer to his blistering best, and he now sits on 13 goals and four assists for the season so far.
Liverpool will be keen to keep a hold of him moving forward but a decision on his future may end up out of the club's hands should his head be turned.
