“You have to give huge credit" - Yaya Toure full of praise for Liverpool star

Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has recently been talking about Liverpool and Senegal winger Sadio Mane.

The 29-year-old helped his country secure Africa Cup of Nations glory last Sunday. The final between Senegal and Egypt was level at 0-0 after extra time.

However, Mane's team ended up winning the match 4-2 on penalties. The 29-year-old missed a penalty earlier in the game, but he was able to make up for it in the shootout.

With that being the case, Toure was full of praise for Mane after the match.

The 38-year-old told BBC Three the following: “You have to give huge credit to Sadio Mane. He missed the first one and scored the last one for his team to win the trophy. I was a fan of Senegal. Sadio Mane was fantastic."

Toure further added: “He was just precise [when it came to the shootout], focused and that is the best way to do it. That one was top draw. Perfection.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Mane from Southampton for a transfer fee of €41.20 million back in July 2016.

Since then, the winger has not looked back. Mane has found the back of the net 107 times and registered 44 assists in 244 appearances for the club's first-team.

Therefore, we weren't shocked to see Mane stand up when it mattered most for his country. We congratulate him on claiming the Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

On another note, we can't wait to see Mane back in a Liverpool shirt. As a result of the Africa Cup of Nations, the 29-year-old has not played for Liverpool since the beginning of January (Chelsea, Stamford Bridge, Premier League).

Therefore, it will be good to have Mane back. It would be fair to assume that the forward will return to Anfield with a spring in his step after winning a major trophy with his country.
