"You could never get bored" - Jordan Henderson ahead of first home game

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has previewed the club's first home game of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

The Reds will face Crystal Palace at Anfield tonight. Liverpool struggled against newly promoted Fulham at Craven Cottage on the opening weekend of the top-flight season. Jurgen Klopp's side could only secure a 2-2 draw.

However, Henderson is putting the opening weekend behind him and looking forward to playing in front of the Anfield crowd again.

Speaking with the official matchday programme, he said: “The first home game of a new season is always one of the fixtures that anyone who is lucky enough to be involved in football just can’t wait for. It was the same when I was a kid, going to matches with my dad, and it applies even more now that I have the privilege of playing for Liverpool.

“It might happen every year, but you could never get bored of this feeling.

“There is always a different atmosphere in and around the ground. You can feel the excitement and there is a real sense of occasion. I have been here long enough to know exactly what Anfield will be like and the fact that we kick off with a night game only adds to the anticipation.

“These are the days we all live for as players, staff and supporters so hopefully between us we can make the most of it by getting off to the best possible start."

Anfield Watch Verdict

There is no denying that playing at Anfield is beneficial to the Liverpool players. There is a reason why the crowd is known as the '12th man'.

So, we fully expect the Reds to defeat Crystal Palace tonight. With it being the first home game of the season, the atmosphere will be electric.

On another note, it's brilliant to hear Henderson speak so positively about the club. It's clear that he is one of our own now.

We wish Henderson all the best for the 2022-23 campaign. Hopefully the skipper lifts a trophy or two.
