Xabi Alonso has 'massive doubts' that may sway Liverpool decision

Xabi Alonso has a huge decision over his future coming this summer. A new report suggests 'massive doubts' could sway it.

Xabi Alonso will have his pick of clubs this summer. Both Liverpool and Bayern Munich both want to install him as manager - and he could always remain with Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool will look to replace Jurgen Klopp, who announced earlier this year that he'll step down as boss. Bayern will also hope to find a new manager after calling time on Thomas Tuchel's reign - he leaves once the campaign is done.

Alonso, though, reportedly has 'massive doubts' over the Bayern job. That's according to TZ, who claim that the turmoil in Bavaria right now is putting him off the job.

Instead, he's currently favouring either moving back to Anfield or sticking with Leverkusen next season.

It's easy to understand why, too. Bayern are going through managers at an alarming rate - Tuchel only took charge of 43 games before the decision to let him go. In his defence, the German didn't get the players he wanted in the summer.

Tuchel asked for a defensive midfielder but Bayern failed to sign one. Joao Palhinha nearly joined right at the end of the summer window but the deal ran out of time

But it's another example of why Alonso won't like what he sees there. There are also doubts over the long-term future of Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane and Alphonso Davies. All three could depart this summer with one year left on their contracts.

This is something we highlighted last week when Bayern entered the race for Alonso. They're not a stable club right now and Tuchel is leaving primarily because they're so far behind the Spaniard's Leverkusen.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are only getting better - Klopp plans to leave because his team is stable. That could ultimately sway Alonso's decision, it seems. Yes, he may remain where he is but if he wishes to move on, the Reds appear to be better placed.
