Pundit Chris Sutton believes that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah "will have a field day" against Rangers at Anfield tonight.

The Champions League group stage match will kick-off at 8:00pm UK time.

Sutton is under the impression that Salah will perform quite well against Rangers. You can read the 49-year-old's reasoning below.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Sutton said the following on 5 Live Sport’s Monday Night Club: “It’s going to be really difficult. They (Rangers) had a strong performance at the weekend. Ryan Kent returning to Liverpool, he’s been a good signing for Rangers but doesn’t get enough goals and assists for a player of his quality.

“They lost four to Ajax, three at home to Napoli, but this isn’t such a daunting prospect as Liverpool in previous seasons. They’ve got to feel that and they’ve basically got nothing to lose going to Anfield. Nobody expects them to get a result.

“Kent is the danger-man. They’ve got issues at the back, Ben Davies, a former Liverpool player, played at the weekend alongside Connor Goldson, but I worry about (Borna) Barisic.

“He has great delivery but Mo Salah going up against him will have a field day. But Rangers have to view it as a shot to nothing – go there, play with confidence, and hope to catch Liverpool on a downer. I still fancy Liverpool to win the game but Rangers are capable.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Salah is a world-class footballer. The winger has scored 160 goals and registered 67 assists in 264 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Salah has averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.21 across the early stages of the 2022-23 campaign. In other words, the 30-year-old is in decent form.

Therefore, it would not surprise us if Salah had a field day against Rangers tonight. The Egyptian international is capable of destroying any team on his day.

Liverpool need to put in a strong performance against Rangers after drawing 3-3 against Brighton and Hove Albion at home last weekend.

We wish Jurgen Klopp's team all the best ahead of the match.
