Alisson Becker is the notable omission from Liverpool's starting XI set to face Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilian shot-stopper was not spotted from the pre-match walk in the city, leading to speculation that he could be missing from today's game.

These fears were confirmed following the announcement of today's lineup, which saw number two Caoimhin Kelleher marked as the man to start between the sticks.

The club have confirmed that Alisson's absence is not injury-related, and that he misses out today due to illness.

He is joined by Joe Gomez on the sick list, who also misses out with the flu. Andy Robertson gets his first start at left-back since October as a result.

Jurgen Klopp revealed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that the club had been struck by a flu-like bug in the past week, leading to questions over the availability of some names.

He said: "We’re fighting with a little bit of flu in the squad, so we have to see who is available so that’s all not cool.

"But in the end we will have 11 players and we will go for it."

Klopp also confirmed that the trio of Thiago Alcantara, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah will all be absent, while Ben Doak, Stefan Bajcetic and Joel Matip are all sidelined through injury as well.

Conor Bradley is currently on compassionate leave after the death of his father and Ibrahima Konate is suspended following his red card against Arsenal last time out.

In better news, Saturday's game welcomes the return of Wataru Endo, who is restored into the midfield after serving Asian Cup duties with Japan.

Kostas Tsimikas also makes a comeback to the fold, making the bench after suffering a broken collarbone against the Gunners at the tail-end of 2023.
