"What a player he is" - Gary Neville on 25-year-old Red

Former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville has lauded Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.

The Reds signed the Colombia international from Porto for a transfer fee of £40.50 million back in January.

Diaz has performed well for Liverpool thus far. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net four times and registered two assists in 17 appearances for the club's first-team.

Diaz was electric against Manchester United at Anfield last night. He scored and secured an assist in the aforementioned Premier League fixture.

With that being the case, Neville was full of praise for Diaz during the match.

As quoted by The Anfield Talk's Twitter account, the 47-year-old said: “It’s utterly depressing (as a Manchester United fan). Oh my god, what a player he is. His tenacity, his pace, his skill, his spirit and he’s cost not a lot again. They’ve found another one. They’ve got five genuinely world-class forwards.”

Liverpool defeated Manchester United 4-0.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Neville is spot on in his assessment of Diaz. The winger is brilliant to watch.

To be fair, we did know that the club had signed a good player. Diaz scored 41 goals and registered 19 assists in 125 appearances for Porto's first-team.

Also, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made it clear that the club had brought in a talented player.

“He is an outstanding player and someone we’ve been tracking for a very long time," the German told the club's official website back in January.

“We believe he has everything needed to fit into our way and adapt to the Premier League, both physically and mentally. He is a player who is hungry for success and knows you have to fight to get what you want. He is a fighter, no doubt. He’s a skilful team player who has always the goal in mind."

Therefore, we look forward to watching Diaz in the years to come.
