With Marcelo Bielsa departing Leeds United, Kalvin Phillips could also be on the move if recent reports are to be believed.

Leeds United have some great players but Phillips is definitely the standout player in Jesse Marsch's squad.

After a great debut Premier League season with Leeds, Gareth Southgate took the 26-year-old to the EURO's where he played every game in England's run to the final.

Unfortunately, Phillips' 2021/22 season has been hampered by a hamstring injury that he picked up in December.

Despite this setback, it seems like the Leeds midfielder is trying to secure his future at a top club in case the Whites get relegated this season.

According to former Leeds United player Danny Mills, the 26-year-old is about to change his agents, despite Marsch taking over at the Yorkshire club.

“From what I’m told, Kalvin Phillips is just about to change or has changed agents as well. That doesn’t particularly suggest staying and signing a new deal," Mills told Football Insider.

"Why would you not stick with the same one? Maybe you can read too much into that. He will have an idea on what he wants to do and his ambitions.

“Kalvin has been a fantastic servant to Leeds but when he’s in and around the England side and sees them all playing in the Champions League, how long is it going to be before Leeds get there?"

Now, according to Football Insider, a recruitment source has told them that Phillips has some of the biggest agents trying to convince the England international to sign with them.

The report goes on to say that one of the agents has said to Phillips; “we’ll get you to Liverpool, wherever you like” in the sales pitch to the midfielder.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Despite having an injury-riddled campaign so far, the midfielder showed his class last year with Leeds United and England.

The 26-year-old played 29 games with the Peacocks last season, averaging a WhoScored rating of 7.01 in the Premier League and 7.10 in the EURO's.

Comparing that to Liverpool's Fabinho, the Brazilian only managed a WhoScored rating of 6.82 in 30 Premier League games last season.

Despite these ratings, the England international would do very well to replace Liverpool's 'Dyson'.

Saying that, if Phillips was available at a reasonable price and if he was happy to play a rotation role at Anfield, it would definitely be a great signing for the Reds.

Unfortunately, if Leeds United do get relegated this season then Liverpool won't be the only club interested in the 26-year-old.
