"We are good friends" - Sadio Mane on Liverpool's attacking options

Sadio Mane has spoken about all of Liverpool's attacking options and how it is a good thing for the club.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Mane has explained how all of Liverpool's forwards have helped each other this season.

“Having these players just helps us. We have many games - we are competing in all the competitions. As a player, sometimes it’s also good to rest. [If] you see your teammate is doing well and scoring, it’s something good.

“Even the competition between us is the best competition possible because we are good friends, which is really important. On the pitch we are trying to help each other.

“At the end of the day, it’s a benefit for us as players to push each other, and it’s good for the team and for the club.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool are not short of forwards. We have five unbelievable ones in Mane, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino, but we also have Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi who have also had great seasons.

In all competitions for Liverpool this season, here are the goals and assists for every Liverpool forward.

Salah has 30 goals and 14 assists, Mane has 20 goals and three assists, Jota has 21 goals and six assists, Firmino has 11 goals and four assists, Diaz has four goals and three assists, Origi has six goals and three assists and Minamino has nine goals and one assist.

That means so far, Liverpool forwards have scored 101 goals and have 34 assists between them.

To think a few seasons ago we had Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Iago Aspas up front who couldn't score a goal for us if their life depended on it.

If recent reports are to be believed then we could be adding more fire power to that front line this summer with Origi and Taki being linked with a move away.

Whatever happens, the future looks bright for Liverpool.
