Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has revealed how close he has come to nearly taking free-kick duties off of Trent Alexander-Arnold this season.
The Dutch defender has a set of world-class attributes and we've also seen from footage in training that he can take pretty decent free-kicks too.
Indeed, Trent Alexander-Arnold is the set-piece man at the club but it sounds as though VVD wasn't far away from taking over before a strike from the right-back at West Ham United:
🚨 NEW: Virgil van Dijk has revealed he was on the cusp of replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold on free-kicks at Liverpool had the Reds' right-back not scored against West Ham last November.

Anfield Watch Verdict
Liverpool are fortunate to have a number of top free-kick takers.
Alexander-Arnold is obviously the standout but Van Dijk could be handy from them, too, whilst Mohamed Salah would always fancy his chances from a dead ball.
There's top quality in the squad up and down the pitch.
