Whilst last season isn’t full of good memories, a couple of moments standout, with one of them being the 4-2 victory at Old Trafford against Manchester United. It was a must win game. Lose, and Liverpool’s top four chances are more or less over.
Win, however, and they stay alive. With a depleted squad, the Reds turned up, still with all the belief in the world. And, by the time the game was over, they had come away with all three points, partly thanks to Diogo Jota’s flicked effort.
With Liverpool behind thanks to a 10th minute goal from Bruno Fernandes, Jota picked the perfect time to score, flicking past Dean Henderson in 34th minute, giving Roberto Firmino enough time to give the Reds the lead before half-time.
The Brazilian then grabbed a second just two minutes into the second half, before Marcus Rashford’s goal to make it 3-2 was made into nothing more than a consolation, thanks to Mohamed Salah’s effort to seal all three points against Manchester United.
