On this day in 2013, Daniel Sturridge scored his first goal for Liverpool.

The Reds faced Mansfield Town at Field Mill in the third round of the FA Cup. Sturridge found the back of the net seven minutes into the match.

As you can see below, the Englishman scored as a result of Jonjo Shelvey's pass.

Liverpool ended up defeating Mansfield 2-1. The footage below is property of FA TV.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Sturridge was a fine player for Liverpool between 2013-19. The forward scored 68 goals and registered 26 assists in 160 appearances for the club's first-team.

Sturridge could have scored quite a few more goals for Liverpool had he not suffered so many injuries.

But, we will always remember the striker as one of the club's better players in the past decade.
