"Very positive outcome" - Jurgen Klopp on Ben Davies' transfer to Rangers

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given his thoughts on Ben Davies' permanent transfer to Rangers.

Yesterday, the defender completed his move to Scottish side Rangers after spending a year and a half at Anfield.

The Reds sold the 26-year-old for £4 million according to Paul Joyce, meaning that Liverpool made a profit of around £2.5 million on him.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp said that this transfer was good for all parties involved.

“Super move. Very positive outcome. As a person he’s as good a guy as you could hope to meet," the German said.

“Rangers is a fantastic club, a big club. Ben belongs on a big stage for sure. European football as well. This presents a proper opportunity to demonstrate his quality and composure.

“It’s a smart piece of recruitment from Giovanni van Bronckhorst, to be honest. Perfect for all parties. He has himself an accomplished defender, who is entering his peak years and whose character is top drawer.

“We wish Ben nothing but the success he deserves and will be following from here as he goes on to make many achievements during the rest of his career.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

This is a great move for Davies. Unfortunately for him, his dream move never really worked out, but this transfer to Rangers will definitely revitalise his career.

There are plenty of players who would've caused a massive fuss if they were in his position (not playing), but the 26-year-old has been nothing but respectful to the club.

Davies got an opportunity to train alongside the best players in the world and work with a world-class manager, so he should take the positives out of his time at Liverpool.

Good luck with the future Ben, and we're sure you'll smash it with Rangers in the Scottish Professional Football League next season.
