Trent Alexander-Arnold set for huge milestone vs Chelsea — only bettered by two Liverpool legends

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to make his 300th appearance for Liverpool on Monday night as the Reds take on Chelsea.

Liverpool host Mauricio Pochettino's side at Anfield for the first Premier League game since Jurgen Klopp's shock exit announcement.

With the Reds looking to maintain their lead at the top of the table, vice-captain Alexander-Arnold is likely to return to the lineup for tonight's kick-off.

The right back had been out since injuring his knee in the FA Cup third-round win over Arsenal at the start of January, missing both Carabao Cup semi legs against Fulham, as well as the league win over Bournemouth. He did, however, make a comeback off the bench during the FA Cup fourth-round victory against Norwich at the weekend and is in line to return to the starting XI on Wednesday.

Should he feature, as predicted, it will be a special occasion for the 25-year-old, marking his 300th Liverpool appearance in all competitions.

The Reds' No. 66, who has been with the club since the age of six, made his first-team debut back in 2016/17 and became a regular under Klopp the following season, steadily growing into a player who would redefine what it means to be a full back.

Of his 299 Liverpool outings, 216 of those have come in the Premier League, while 58 have been in Europe.

To put Alexander-Arnold's milestone into context, 299 is already more appearances than the likes of Jan Molby (292) , Sammy Lee (295) and Michael Owen (297), while — as noted by the club's official website — only two players have ever reached 300 appearances for the Reds at a younger age: Ian Rush and Emlyn Hughes.

Both of those club legends sit in the top six all-time appearance makers for Liverpool, with the former registering 660 outings in total over his career and the latter 665.

Alexander-Arnold might need another seven seasons to match those figures, but you wouldn't put it past him ending his career as one of the club's longest-serving legends.

In 2023/24, the England international has eight assists and two goals to his name in all competitions.
