Trent Alexander-Arnold says Liverpool are gunning for the Premier League title this season after an underwhelming 2022-23 campaign that saw them finish fifth in the league standings.

The Reds have been widely tipped to fare a lot better this time around, but the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal are believed to be favorites for the Premier League title. When asked by Sky Sports about Liverpool not being considered title favorites, Alexander-Arnold indicated that the Reds have nothing to prove, having already been involved in a handful of grueling title races over the years.

He said (quotes via Football London): "That’s fine by us. We’ve proven ourselves over the years that we’re able to do it."

Liverpool have already added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to their squad this summer and are on the lookout for further reinforcements before the end of the transfer window. Alexander-Arnold believes the Reds have signed two players who have bought into the mentality of the squad perfectly and also claimed that Liverpool's ambition is to win the Premier League title this season.

"We’re a team full of winners, we’ve just bought in a player who has won the World Cup, another who has won things in Germany, so we’ve got a winning mentality and our ambition this season is to win the league", he added. "We won’t be shy about that and our expectations are to be in and around it. We look at last season as a huge disappointment because we should be challenging every year for the title."

Liverpool secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Chelsea in their Premier League opener, with Axel Disasi cancelling out Luis Diaz's first-half strike for the Reds. A draw at Stamford Bridge is hardly a bad result, but if Liverpool are to fight for the Premier League title, they should look to pick up all three points when they take on Bournemouth at Anfield next weekend.
