"Trade it all" - Sadio Mane's honest admission ahead of Africa Cup of Nations

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has made an honest admission ahead of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 29-year-old said that he would "trade" all the trophies that he has won throughout his career if it meant he would claim the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

The first game of the tournament is next Monday.

Mane said the following in a New Balance advert: "When I was a kid, they called me Ballonbuwa (ball wizard), but I was always more of a Gaynde (lion): ruthless, explosive, a hunter.

"I have been hunting my whole career, but no matter what I have caught - I am still hungry.

"My people have waited a long time. I would trade it all to win this one. This is my time. The Lion roars."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We understand that winning a trophy with Senegal is a big deal for Mane. Every footballer wants to win a major tournament with their nation.

But, we do believe that Mane has been a bit disrespectful towards Liverpool by claiming that he would trade the silverware that he has won with the club for an Africa Cup of Nations medal.

Mane has won the biggest trophies in club football with the Reds (UEFA Champions League and Premier League title).

Liverpool have struggled for the most part in the past two decades. Therefore, we believe that winning a major trophy with the Reds should mean as much as winning the Africa Cup of Nations for Mane.
