Toulouse 3-2 Liverpool: Player Ratings

Here are the Anfield Watch player ratings for Toulouse vs Liverpool in the UEFA Europa League. The Reds had an awful night.

Liverpool had an absolute shocker in Toulouse and went down 3-2 in the UEFA Europa League. Just about nothing went right, outside of a fantastic Diogo Jota goal.

Here are our player ratings for the worst performance of the season so far as Liverpool lost 3-2 to Toulouse.

Caoimhin Kelleher - 5

Far from his fault and didn't have much of a chance with any of the goals. Just didn't do anything particularly special, either.

Joe Gomez - 5

Played two positions and did manage to halt a goal or two with his pace. Still wasn't good enough, though.

Joel Matip - 5

Liverpool conceded three but we can't remember Matip doing anything particularly wrong. He was just left woefully exposed because of the lack of bite in midfield.

Jarrel Quansah - 6

Unlucky that the first deflected off of him but Quansah wasn't at fault. Much the same as Matip - just left exposed by the midfield and the left-back giving it away.

Kostas Tsimikas - 2

Bad. In fact, Liverpool were 1-0 down at halftime because of Tsimikas, who clumsily gave the ball away for the opener. A very poor performance and one that saw him taken off at half time.

Wataru Endo - 3

A terrible first 45 and Endo was incredibly fortunate not to get a red card. He was booked but did more than enough to get a second one. Didn't win any duels, either, so just a negative performance before he was hooked at half time.

Alexis Mac Allister - 4

A bad game. Struggled to win his tackles and wasn't particularly inventive with the ball, either.

Harvey Elliott - 5

Didn't do much but wasn't the worst player out there, either. Had a tough go of it as the more defensive midfielders struggled to create any sort of base for him to play off of.

Ben Doak - 6

For a youngster, Doak put in a decent half. He had one really promising run and an effort on goal that unfortunately went straight at the goalkeeper. Still, he's 17 and in a team that played pretty terribly - this was decent.

Cody Gakpo - 6

Gakpo did actually create some things here. We'll stop short of calling it a particularly good performance but his three passes led Liverpool. He had a positive impact - can't say that for everyone.

Luis Diaz - 5

Started very, very brightly and looked like they simply couldn't handle his running with the ball. Went unfortunately quiet after the half four mark, though, and can get the blame for the second goal. A mixed bag.

Subs

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 5

Didn't quite have the influence you'd want once he came on but he also wasn't an utter disaster. Maybe could have done more on the third goal? But then, everyone could have really.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 6

Did actually help move Liverpool forward on occasion, better than any other midfielder managed. He's just the best midfielder at the club (who can stay fit).

Mohamed Salah - 4

Bizarrely, a complete non-entity once he was on. Unable to get into the game at all.

Darwin Nunez - 4

Barely touched the ball once he was on.

Diogo Jota - 8

What a goal. The only player on the pitch who remembered he had genuine quality in him and simply forced a goal as soon as he got some space with the ball. Liverpool's Man of the match, almost by default.
