Speaking in his post-match press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp said that he was proud of the performance his side put in at Villa Park.
"I don't think it is possible to win easy. They are a high-quality side. All the things they did put us under pressure," said Klopp.
"We have our situation and if you want to win an away game you have to open up spaces. They did really well and we needed time to get in the game and before we got in the game it was 1-1.
"I could not be more proud. It was a massive performance in the middle of May."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Even though it was tougher than expected, Liverpool return to Merseyside with three points.
It would've been nice to have scored a few more goals to catch up to Manchester City's goal difference but that was secondary after winning the game.
The result now puts pressure on Manchester City to perform against Wolves on Wednesday, a team that they have struggled to overcome in recent years.
Saying that, with the form both sides are currently in, you'd be surprised if City didn't come away with anything other than three points.
If Wolves do lose on Wednesday then hopefully they can keep it tight as Liverpool are currently +3 goals behind Pep Guardiola's side.
Even though it's heartbreaking to think that we could lose the league on goal difference, we just have to accept it as we'd only have ourselves to blame.
Thankfully, we have Southampton after the FA Cup final against Chelsea and they've been known to ship up to nine goals in a single game, so hopefully, we can put on a clinical performance against the Saints and clawback City in that department.
