"The kid's a beast" - Rio Ferdinand on reported Liverpool target

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has praised Borussia Dortmund midfielder and reported Liverpool target Jude Bellingham.

The England international has been in terrific form for the Bundesliga club in the early stages of the 2022-23 campaign.

Bellingham has scored four goals and registered two assists in 12 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.40 in the Bundesliga.

So, we weren't surprised to hear Ferdinand wax lyrical about Bellingham on live television recently.

“What he’s doing in his position at his age, we haven’t seen,” the pundit told BT Sport, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“The best of our generation, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, them guys…Viera, Roy Keane, they weren’t doing this.

“He still has to go on and prove it over a long period of time but they were not doing what he is doing right now, influencing games at this level, captaining a team at this level, he is the full package. Mentally, this kid’s a beast, no doubts about him.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

As Ferdinand pointed out, Bellingham is a generational talent. Therefore, we would love to see Liverpool make a move for the midfielder in the near future.

Bellingham is contracted until the summer of 2025. The 19-year-old possesses a current market value of €90 million.

So, Bellingham will cost Liverpool a bit of money. But, there's no denying that he would be worth every penny.

Bellingham could represent Liverpool's first-team for a number of years.
