The key talking points from Liverpool's 4-0 victory over Manchester United

Last night, Liverpool defeated Manchester United 4-0 at Anfield to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

The Reds were rampant for the entire fixture. Luis Diaz opened the scoring five minutes into the match. Mohamed Salah then ensured that Liverpool took a 2-0 lead into half-time.

But, it took Jurgen Klopp's team a bit of time to put the game to bed in the second-half. Sadio Mane scored Liverpool's third goal 68 minutes into the clash.

Shortly after, Salah found the back of the net again to secure a 4-0 victory for his side. Below are the key talking points from Liverpool versus Manchester United.

Anfield was electric

The atmosphere inside Anfield was superb last night. You could see the Liverpool players were using the volume created by the supporters to their advantage.

There was an urgency to everything that the Reds did. Manchester United could not live with Klopp's side. The times have certainly changed from when the Red Devils had the wood over Liverpool.

The Reds scored nine goals to nil across both Premier League fixtures against Manchester United this season. No Red should be taking anything for granted right now.

We may never see Liverpool dominate Manchester United like this ever again.

Mohamed Salah is back to his best

Before last night, Salah had not scored in his past six appearances for Liverpool. But, the drought is finally over.

The winger found the back of the net twice against Manchester United last night. Salah took both of his chances really well, which was the most pleasing aspect of his performance.

Salah has now scored 22 goals in 30 Premier League appearances this campaign. Hopefully the Egyptian international can continue his good form and propel Liverpool towards another trophy or two this season.

Thiago dictated the play

Thiago was sensational against Manchester United. Whenever the Spaniard got on the ball, he looked to make things happen.

Thiago was also good defensively. The 31-year-old completed three tackles against the Red Devils.

WhoScored rated Thiago's overall performance against Manchester United an 8.17/10. You can see some of his highlights from the match in the footage below.

Liverpool would have battered most teams last night

Liverpool were playing a very intense brand of football last night. In fact, the Reds would have battered a number of teams.

As Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said post-game, his side were not easy to play against.

"I really thought - and people might say Iโ€™m obsessed with counter-press - but the counter-press was absolutely a completely different level. A completely different level," the German told the club's official website.

"So, we lost balls, which is normal when you are in possession - I think we had 70-something per cent of possession, but then you lose balls.

"The counter-press we did was unbelievable and then the opponent cannot gain momentum or whatever. It makes it really tricky.

"Yes, first-half and the second part of the second-half, with the result already more or less in the pocket, it was absolutely outstanding. We were not easy to play against tonight, definitely not."

In saying that, we are glad that Liverpool saved one of their best performances of the season for an arch rival.

Liverpool have the momentum in the title race

Second-placed Manchester City do have a game in hand over Liverpool. Therefore, the league title is still in the Sky Blues' hands.

However, it does feel like the momentum is with the Reds. Klopp's side defeated Manchester City 3-2 in the FA Cup semi-finals last weekend.

Now, the Reds humiliated their biggest rivals - Manchester United. Momentum can swing. But, as of right now, Liverpool should be confident that they can win the title with six games to go.

One mistake from Manchester City and the Reds will become the favourites.
