"The fans know what I want" - Mohamed Salah opens up on contract situation
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has opened up on his contract situation.
It has been reported that the Egyptian international, who will be a free agent at the conclusion of next season, wants more money than what the club are prepared to pay him.
However, Salah has claimed that not everything is about his income in regards to his new deal.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, the 29-year-old told FourFourTwo the following: “I don’t know, I have one year left. I think the fans know what I want, but in the contract it’s not everything about the money at all. So I don’t know, I can’t tell you. I have one year left and the fans know what I want.
“I’m not worried, I don’t let myself worry about something. The season didn’t finish yet, so let’s finish it in the best possible way – that’s the most important thing. Then in the last year, we’re going to see what’s going to happen.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We are quite tired of all the noise surrounding Salah's future. In an ideal world, the club and the winger come to an agreement sooner rather than later.
It's a distraction the team does not need when they are fighting for the Premier League title, Champions League and FA Cup.
On another note, we would hate to see Salah leave Liverpool. The reality is, he is a top player. The Egyptian international has scored 22 goals in 30 Premier League appearances this season.
You never want to see a player of Salah's ability leave. Also, the Anfield faithful love the 29-year-old.
We doubt that Salah would be as appreciated elsewhere. Liverpool fans are special at supporting their own at the end of the day.
But, where Salah plays his football in the long-term will be his decision at the end of the day.
