"The door is open" - Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool's attack next season

Jurgen Klopp has talked about his forward line for next season, claiming that everybody has a shot at starting the new campaign.

Speaking to the Telegraph, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Liverpool boss said that the door is open for the forward players to make a statement this pre-season.

“We had two or three or four years where it was always clear before the pre-season we started up front with Sadio (Mane), Bobby (Firmino) and Mo (Salah)," he said.

"Now the door is open for pretty much everybody. That is what we have to use.

“We have Luiz (Diaz) and Fabio (Carvalho) for the left wing as well; Bobby who is 100 percent back when you see training. It is like ‘wow’ he is definitely back. Mo will be here a long time and we have Harvey Elliott.

“I say we can improve performance-wise. We can mix it up better. We can be different in moments. We can be more convincing in moments. We can be calmer in moments and more lively in moments.

“It is about the way we play, we have to do the right stuff again and again and again and that is what I am really looking forward to. We have to use this short period of time now. This first week was really good, it looks like the future is really bright.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

I know Klopp has said that the door is open, but I think the front three picks itself for next season.

The way Diaz has played (six goals and five assists) since he signed for the Reds back in January means you have to pick him to replace Mane.

Salah is a no-brainer, especially now that he has agreed a new contract with the club. Not playing the Egyptian would be criminal.

Also, with us spending €100 million on Darwin Nunez this summer, Klopp can't afford to not start him in my opinion.

Who knows though, the German has made some surprising decisions regarding new signings in the past, so we could see a repeat of that.
