Speaking in his pre-Manchester United press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp said that bringing Luis Diaz in hasn't affected Mane playing on the wing and that playing as a striker 'suits' him.
"I have known Sadio for nearly 6 years - he has never needed competition to be the best version of himself. He has consistently performed at an incredibly high level.
"I'm not sure bringing in Luis Diaz affected that part of his game. But playing through the centre suits Sadio very well as well.
"Sadio had some physical struggles since he came back [from AFCON]. He couldn't use his immense physicality every few days. Before the game against City, I thought it looked like the Sadio physically [that I know] and that's why he was able to play the game he played."
Anfield Watch Verdict
A lot of people thought that with Diaz being in amazing form he would replace Sadio. However, Mane has excelled in his new role and he's currently benching Diogo Jota, who has been magnificent up front this season.
Fortunately, Liverpool still have a lot of games to go this season and if we want to win it all then rotation will be key.
I'd expect Jota to start against Manchester United as he only played five minutes against Manchester City on Saturday.
We could even see Mohamed Salah rested due to his goal scoring drought. Whatever front three line up against the Red Devils tomorrow, Liverpool fans will be extremely confident that we can score for fun.
