Crystal Palace held the Citizens to a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park last night. With that being the case, Liverpool are only four points behind Manchester City on the table. The Reds also have a game in hand.
Despite that being the case, Silva believes that Manchester City are still the favourites to secure the title this season.
As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Silva told Sky Sports the following: "We're still in a good position. It's still better to be in our position than Liverpool. They still have to play in our stadium as well.
Anfield Watch Verdict
We would not expect Silva to say anything less. Of course he is going to back his side to secure the 2021-22 Premier League title.
Manchester City have won three of the past four titles, so they know what it takes to win the biggest prize in English football.
But, the reality is, Liverpool do have a great chance of claiming the trophy this season. Silva alluded to the clash between Manchester City and the Reds at the Etihad Stadium (10th of April) in his aforementioned comments.
That particular match could be a title decider. Liverpool have not won at the Etihad Stadium since April 2018. Goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino handed the Reds a 2-1 win over the Citizens.
Therefore, Liverpool will have to play well to defeat Manchester City next month. However, it is important to note that there are a number of games to be played before the blockbuster clash. Those matches should be the focus for the time being.
