Here’s our Liverpool FC news recap for Saturday, 13th July. Arne Slot is firmly in charge and has people talking.

Slot on Klopp's words

Arne Slot has revealed what Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders told him about the Liverpool squad. They were absolutely right, too.

Arne Slot has had a little bit of time with his new squad now. Pre-season is firmly underway and while some of the stars remain absent because of international commitments, the new head coach does have an idea of the players at his disposal.

It's safe to say he's impressed, too. Slot talked up the squad this week in an interview with LFCTV and said advice from Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders was spot on.

Liverpool are underway with Arne Slot and one player - linked with an exit, no less - has given his first thoughts on the new head coach.

Caomhin Kelleher has shared his initial thoughts on life under Arne Slot. The Dutchman is firmly in charge now, leading the squad through his first training sessions.

Of course, Slot doesn't quite have the full squad at his disposal - many are away with international squads or on holiday after a tournament. It'll be a little while longer before he's working with everyone.

But that doesn't stop the players from there learning about their new boss. Kelleher, who has actually been very strongly linked with an exit this summer, gave his first impression of Slot. It's certainly positive.

With pre-season training having now started, Arne Slot's reign as Liverpool boss gets underway.

The Dutch coach, who was appointed as Jurgen Klopp's successor at the end of last season, has already taken part in his first interview with the club, as well as a press conference with reporters.

A number of the club's players, both young and old, have already linked up with Slot at the AXA Training Centre for pre-season, although international commitments mean that not all of the 45-year-old's players are currently available to him.

One that is how, however, is Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

The 28-year-old didn't travel to Euro 2024 after Greece failed to qualify, meaning he has had extra time to work with his new head coach.

In a snap interview with LFCTV, Tsimikas offered an insight into Slot's training regime.

Heitinga to join Liverpool

Arne Slot is ready to bring a ‘very impressive’ former Everton man to Liverpool this summer. The new boss is wasting little time.

Liverpool haven't done any senior transfer business this summer but that's not the only thing on the agenda at Anfield. While new players would be nice, the Reds also need to rebuild their backroom team.

Jurgen Klopp's exit meant a new 'head coach' but almost the entire coaching staff followed him out of the exit door. It left Arne Slot needing to find new names to assist him - a process that's firmly underway.

And one of those names knows Merseyside very well. Liverpool are set to hire John Heitinga, who spent four seasons at Everton in his playing days.

Liverpool have begun a public search for someone to fill a key role at the club. It’s not one that will come easily, however.

Liverpool Director of Research William Spearman posted a job advert this week. The club are now looking for a lead data scientist - Spearman's old role.

He held that position for quite some time, joining the club in March 2018 and remaining in that role until February 2023. He was then promoted to his current position.
