"Seeing the supporters pushing the players" - Jurgen Klopp on the fans

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised the Anfield faithful.

The Reds secured a 9-0 victory over Bournemouth at home last Saturday.

Liverpool were in desperate need of a victory having not won any of their opening three matches of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

Klopp was delighted with how the crowd urged his team on last weekend.

"One of the things I loved most about Saturday was everywhere you looked, you could see intensity and desire," he told Liverpoolfc.com, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"Seeing the supporters pushing the players and the players counter-pressing like crazy in the second half was exactly how I would want it to be. This is when we are at our best as a collective and when Anfield becomes such a difficult place for opponents to play in.

"It is not easy to recreate these moments, of course, but we should give it a try and see what we can do. Experience tells us we are not likely to make things worse, that is for sure.

"With this being our last home game (Newcastle United tonight) before the Champions League campaign begins I would like to thank our supporters in advance for the backing that they give us in this competition."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool supporters are absolutely brilliant. There is a reason why the crowd is known as the '12th man'.

Without the fans, Liverpool Football Club would not be the same.

We fully expect the Kop to be in full voice tonight. The Reds need to continue winning if they are to be taken seriously in this season's title race.

Liverpool are currently seven points behind league leaders Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp's team have it all do.

But, the Reds have won six major trophies and the Community Shield in the past four years, so they are more than capable of holding their nerve.
