Ruben Amorim: Liverpool target has reportedly made his decision

Ruben Amorim, the current favourite for the Liverpool manager’s job, has reportedly made his decision. Sporting CP will be losing their manager.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda claims Ruben Amorim has made a decision on his future. Amorim is currently being courted by a few major clubs who plan of changing things this summer.

First in line is Liverpool, who will require a new manager as Jurgen Klopp steps down from the role. Chelsea and Barcelona have also been linked, however.

Reports broke out this week that Amorim had actually agreed to the Liverpool job but that was quickly - and emphatically - denied by all parties. Sepulveda, though, understands that Amorim has made a decision on where he wants to be next season.

But he’s not going to announce it just yet.

"Rúben Amorim has already made a decision but won't announce it yet,” he wrote on X. "Portuguese coach will leave Sporting CPcat the end of the season regardless of whether he wins titles or not.

"It's the end of the road for Amorim ahead of Sporting.

"Official statement after the last game."

Ruben Amorim and Liverpool

It’s to be expected that we won’t learn anything, even if Amorim has made his choice. After all, it’s been clear from the start that he didn’t want distractions as Sporting attempt to win a league and cup double this season.

Everyone can expect things to be merely rumours - maybe even an open secret - until Sporting are finished with their campaign. It’s the professional way of doing things and certainly how Amorim wants it to go.

But if Amorim has made a decision already, it’s very likely that he’d decided to take the Liverpool job. He can’t exactly decide to take the Chelsea job, for one, as they haven’t parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino. Barcelona aren’t 100% they can afford his release clause - Amorim can’t pick them without open negotiation between Barca and Sporting.

All signs point to Anfield, then. Even if we need to wait for confirmation.
