Liverpool Next Manager: Ruben Amorim gives CRYPTIC update on future
Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has provided a cryptic update on his future as speculation surrounding the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool job ramps up.
Amorim has emerged as Liverpool's first-choice candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season after Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso confirmed that he would remain at the Bundesliga champions-elect beyond this summer.
Reports came out on Saturday night that contract talks between Amorim and Liverpool had sped up, with respect Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda expecting that personal terms would be reached in the coming days.
And now, Amorim has provided an answer to the golden question surrounding his future.
Amorim refuses to rule out a move
Amorim has refused to commit his future at Sporting amid links with a move to Liverpool.
The former midfielder has Sporting on track for a second league title success in four years after Saturday night's 2-1 home win over Benfica extended the club's lead at the top of the Liga Portugal to four points with just seven games of the season remaining.
But when asked after the game if guiding the club to another championship would be a big enough incentive to keep him in Lisbon next season, Amorim insisted he is unable to answer questions about his future at this time.
"It wasn't talking about the future, I always want to answer but there are things I can't answer," he said (via A Bola). "Last year we came in fourth place and I thought I had to do something different, it couldn't be the same.”
