Liverpool are on the lookout for at least two midfielders this summer and Times Sport have exclusively revealed that the Reds are keeping tabs on four players.
According to the report, Jude Bellingham is Liverpool's primary target, while the likes of Gavi, Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes have also been linked with moves to Anfield. While Gavi might be unattainable, his current predicament could see Liverpool or any other club in world football take advantage of the situation, as his contract extension with the Catalan giants was canceled by a court in Barcelona yesterday.
🚨 NEW: Liverpool have inquired about signing Gavi before, including last summer, when Barcelona’s pursuit of Bernardo Silva appeared to threaten the teenager’s place in the team. However, Silva stayed at City and Barcelona agreed a new contract with Gavi. #lfc [times]

As for Matheus Nunes, Liverpool were credited with an interest last summer but the Portuguese international secured a club-record move to Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, it has been reported that Nunes' agent Jorge Mendes brokered a deal with the Midlands club that would allow Liverpool to sign the midfielder for a little over what Wolves paid last summer.
Chelsea's Mason Mount has just over a year left on his current deal and while the Blues are desperate to tie him down, they could look to offload him this summer if he fails to put pen to paper on a new contract.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Based on outgoings, Liverpool could sign up to three midfielders this summer. Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are out of contract this summer, while Arthur Melo will return to Juventus after his one-year loan deal. While Milner is still in with a chance of signing a new deal, the others will not be at Anfield at the start of the 2023-24 campaign, indicating that the coming summer is a chance for Jurgen Klopp to revitalize his engine room.
🚨 NEW: Liverpool want to sign two midfielders in the summer, with Gavi on a shortlist that includes Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea’s Mason Mount, as well as Matheus Nunes at Wolverhampton Wanderers. #lfc [times]

Bellingham is undoubtedly Liverpool's primary target and the Reds are expected to throw the kitchen sink at Borussia Dortmund to secure his signature, but the likes of Mount and Nunes could also be snapped up if the conditions are favorable. Mount, in particular, is a signing that could appeal to Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy, as the Englishman would count as homegrown and his skillset would allow him to flourish as one of the free #8s in a 4-3-3.
