Liverpool are on course to seal the late January signing of Luis Diaz from FC Porto, with the player due for a medical at the weekend before signing for the club.
The Reds had been linked with Diaz recently but it did not look as though anything was going to come of that immediately at least, with the club set for another quiet market in January.
However, movement from other clubs appears to have sparked the Reds into life on this one, with Carl Markham revealing Manchester United had a part to play in getting Liverpool to strike:
